Abstract

In line with the national commitments of reduction in carbon emissions India is undergoing a radical transition to green energy. The revised targets declared at Glasgow are ambitious and far reaching. But this transition is based on use of many precious elements used in batteries and solar panels as well as many potentially hazardous components. The transition, therefore, needs to be sustainable and should not be the cause of any environmental degradation. The implementation of circular economy with the integrated principles of reuse and recycle is imperative to achieve this objective.
